Fun fact. I am neither an Aultman, nor a group. Misleading much? My name is actually Heidi.
Remembering my Uncle
Here’s the dealio. Aultman Group is named after my late uncle. He died in 2016 from complications due to lung cancer and I, and my family, miss him terribly. The company name was a way to remember him, my husband’s brilliant idea! From the name to the color scheme (which I chose after his favorite hockey team, The New Jersey Devils), there are plenty of references to him.

My uncle was an amazing man, truly. He overcame a life of alcoholism, delinquency, and even a terrible sawmill accident that took all the fingers on his hand, only to later do it again on the other hand! He managed to keep most of his fingers that time, but the tips were lost in that second accident.
Yikes.
In spite of his hardships, he quit alcohol and was sober until his death, some thirty some-odd years later. He had a successful career in IT, helped people with disabilities learn computer skills, and was a movie fiend. He literally had thousands of movies and housesitting for him was like staying the night at a Hollywood Video.
Yes, I said Hollywood Video. I’m old.
He was kind and fun and absolutely adored cats. He took on many strays throughout his life, and he and my aunt made many a kitty into spoiled little kings and queens. In fact, the kitty mascot you will see throughout the site is an homage to another important figure in my life. Her name was Misha, a stray my uncle found, whom I and my husband took in. My uncle adored her and visited her often. She was a special link to him, we even put some of her ashes in with his urn vault when we sadly lost her too. The logo is my nod to her, and accurate too as she would sleep pretty much anywhere!

A bit about me
As for ME, (Heidi, in case you forgot), I’ve been writing for years. Things like novels, blogs, all the fun stuff. In 2021 I decided to make a career of it. I went back to school and got my BA in Marketing, doing 3 years worth of school in 4 and a half months. It. Was. Awful. From morning til bed, all I did was study and take test after test after test. I passed 1-2 entire classes per week and I never failed an exam. I still don’t know how I pulled it off. I just know I’ve never worked harder at anything and I was, apparently, rather unpleasant to be around. Oops!
After graduating, I studied every and anything copywriting, until I felt confident enough to “cold email,” businesses who’d let me write for free, morphing into paid work. From there I was given opportunities quite fast, freelancing for different companies for months at a time and learning all about SEO, B2B, SaaS, and the tech industry. My portfolio expands on all of this.
In terms of my strengths, I’d say learning new concepts very quickly is one, a skill I learned from that mad dash that was college. Second? I’m pleasant as heck. I know how to take feedback and direction exceedingly well so that I can craft copy that is exactly what you’re looking for while keeping the lines of communication open and easy.
Besides my writing background, if you’re super bored and actually want to know more about this random woman whose site you stumbled on, go wild. 12 facts about me:

12 things about me (you sick of me yet?)
- I love to draw. I’m hit and miss at it, and straight lines are my kryptonite, but even so, I adore it.
- I love food. Like, LOVE it. I’m always game to try new things but sushi, mac & cheese, and cake are my favorites.
- I have the biggest soft spot for animals. I currently have a cat named Moxxi who is the joy of my life and also the bane of my existence. I often wake up to her biting my hand.
- Music is my everything. I used to be in a barbershop quartet with my sisters, called Octomom and the Trifecta, because one of my sisters has eight kids and the rest of us…don’t. I love a variety of music. Everything from 1930s jazz standards to screamo metal.
- I have a twin. She looks and acts nothing like me, but I’m rather fond of her, even though I’m definitely the nice one.
- I thoroughly enjoy playing video games. I like the feeling of success when overcoming challenges, especially since I veer towards horror and adventure genres.
- Speaking of horror, I absolutely LOVE being scared. Well, except in the middle of the night when I’m trying to sleep and I imagine a demon at the foot of my bed. Considering how many horror movies I watch, that is a very frequent image. I have three nightlights.
- I live in the Pacific Northwest. It’s gorgeous here. Seriously.
- I play piano. Mostly video game and anime music.
- Writing is hugely important to me. I have several books I’m working on, two blogs, and a lot more projects on the pipeline. I’ll probably get carpal tunnel by fifty from all the typing I do. Worth it.
- I have a tiny little personal training side hustle that I’ve run for well over a decade. It’s been amazing to be a part of improving people’s health.
- Ah, health. Unfortunately, my own is a bit iffy as of late. I have a non-cancerous pituitary tumor that wreaks havoc on my hormones. One side effect is that it messes up my hair, so if you need some work and you see me in a zoom meeting rocking a beanie, that’s why. No, I don’t have cancer. No, I’m not dying or sickly. I just don’t have a lot of hair is all. Luckily, I have fabulous taste in headwear. As for the health condition itself, I’m quite functional and it does NOT affect my ability to work. I just look like a hipster while doing it!
